I’m sorry, but when I think of the current midwest weather, the first thing that comes to mind is this cheer from the movie Bring it On (I know all the words, chants, and cheers to this movie by the way, don’t act like you don’t either). I am seriously so anxious for the weather to get warm, you have no idea.

Meanwhile, I wear this amazing wool blend DKNY coat to keep warm. Remember in my ‘Hello 2015!‘ post how I explained you don’t have to spend an arm and a leg to look great and wear your favorite designers? This post rings true to that statement. I was on a mad hunt for the perfect winter coat this season that was in my price range. I knew I wanted something fashion forward and asymmetrical, but I definitely was not willing to pay over $150 for it. My sister and I went to Marshalls and T.J. Maxx to see what they had and there it was. Staring right in front of me; the perfect, grey, DKNY, asymmetrical winter coat in Marshalls. At the time, I felt like it was too early to buy a winter coat so I left it behind.  Don’t worry, this story has a happy ending. A month later, I came to my senses and realized I couldn’t live without it. I was extremely nervous because as we all know, when you see something at Marshalls, you better grab it while it’s hot or it might not be there anymore. Once again, God was looking out for me. When I returned over a month after originally spotting the coat, THERE WAS ONE SMALL LEFT. If that wasn’t a sign, I honestly don’t know what is. I grabbed that coat so quick, people around me probably thought I was crazy. I didn’t mind because it was worth it. The retail price was around $200 and I snagged this pup for $119.  I would say it was a job well done. If you are looking for an affordable coat for this or next season, I have tagged some amazing, affordable and very comparable options.

Enough about the coat. I normally don’t buy shoes from Forever 21, but right when I walked in, I saw these on sale for only $10! Unfortunately, I bought these over a year ago so they are no longer in stock. Per usual, Vivie has your back and I found a number of options ranging in price. These are a winter go to of mine because I can wear them out on the town and at work. I try to stay away from buying items that I can only wear once or can’t be paired with different outfits. I would rather find different ways to put old pieces together than feel obligated to go shopping every time I felt like ‘I have nothing to wear’. This is why you will see a few key pieces in my closet on repeat because they ‘re so versatile.

Remember: Wear those clothes girl, don’t let the clothes wear you!
